Reconstructed Ayleidoon
Reference Sheet and Working Lexicon
Prepared for ongoing Elder Scrolls linguistic development
Version 1.6.1 • September 2026
| Purpose. This document consolidates the reconstructed Ayleidoon framework developed so far: a compact quick-reference standard, the governing conceptual principles, the working lexicon, and the initial grammar and syntax rules. It is intended to keep future inscriptions, hymns, titles, prayers, and theological statements internally consistent. |
Compact Reference Standard
Use this section as the baseline standard when drafting new Ayleidoon lines. It is deliberately short and practical.
| Core Principle | Working Standard |
| Elemental theology | Earth, Air, Water, and Light are the four true elements. Fire is a corrupted form of Light, not a coequal primal element. |
| Semantic centre | Light vocabulary must be more precise and developed than fire vocabulary. |
| Moral contrast | Pure light, childhood, law, soul, and ascent stand against corruption, domination, consumption, and desecration. |
| Register | High Ayleidoon should feel luminous, formal, balanced, and inscriptional rather than conversational. |
| Translation policy | Keep canon terms where attested. Use disciplined reconstruction for everything else, with coined words logged back into the lexicon. |
Core Lexical and Grammar Rules
| Feature | Rule |
| Default statement | Zero-copula is normal in formal phrases: Aeth vara = Light is law. |
| Explicit copula | Use ir for emphasis or doctrinal contrast: Nar ir merid-vath. |
| Adjective position | Adjectives normally follow the noun: lena surian = pure child. |
| Genitive | Use compounds for elevated titles and fixed formulae; use na for readable ‘of’ phrases. |
| Instrumental | Use va for by, with, through. |
| Plural | Formal plural uses -im; softer poetic plural may use -i. |
| Negation | Use ne for plain negation and nul- for false, null, or counterfeit concepts. |
| Style preference | Prefer nouns, compounds, and participles over chatty verb-heavy syntax. |

1. Conceptual Foundation
Reconstructed Ayleidoon is organised around Light as a primal and metaphysical reality rather than merely decorative brightness. In this framework, Earth, Air, Water, and Light are the four fundamental elements.
Fire is not a primal element. It is treated as corrupted, wounded, or devouring Light: a theological and linguistic secondary state rather than an equal counterpart to pure radiance.
That distinction supports the larger cultural divide between Aedric and Daedric Ayleid thought. Pure Light, law, soul, ascent, memory, and innocent life belong to ordered creation; corrupted light, domination, aestheticised cruelty, and desecration belong to inversion and rebellion.
2. Register and Style
High Ayleidoon should feel formal, elegant, luminous, and inscriptional. It should read naturally in temple dedications, royal proclamations, hymns, invocations, and metaphysical commentary.
Even when dealing with cruelty or theological horror, the language should retain a sculpted, aristocratic surface. Ayleid speech is not meant to feel blunt or rustic; it should sound like a civilisation that aestheticised both sanctity and terror.

4. Derived and Compound Patterns
Adjectival ending: -an. Examples: surian = pure; varan = lawful; aethan = sacredly luminous; vathan = corrupted.
Abstract or state ending: -eth. Examples: nareth = burning state; saraneth = ritual process; umaleth = dominion.
Elevated abstraction ending: -el. Examples: aethel = sacred light as holy essence; suriel = purity; tirel = soul-light.
Agent or office-holder ending: -ion. Examples: varion = keeper of law; narion = burner; tulvarion = sculptor.
Compounds are preferred for fixed theological concepts and titles. Examples: Coraaeth = Throne of Light; Aethvara = Law of Light; Vathsaran = Rite of Desecration.
5. Grammar and Syntax
Sentence style
Formal Ayleidoon often uses zero-copula statements: Aeth vara = Light is law. Nar merid-vath = Fire is corrupted light.
When emphasis is needed, use ir as an explicit copular particle: Aeth ir vara. Nar ir merid-vath.
Word order
The default formal order is noun followed by adjective or qualifier: lena surian = pure child; cora aethan = sacredly luminous throne.
The default clause style is topic first, then predicate. Full verb clauses may use subject–verb–object, but nominal and participial phrasing is preferred in elevated registers.
Relations and particles
Use na for of or belonging to when a full phrase is preferred: cora na aeth = throne of light; saran na vara = rite of law.
Use va for by, with, or through: tulvar va nar = shaped by fire; saran va aeth = rite by light.
Use el for toward, into, or unto: thalorir el aetheria = shall ascend into Aetherius.
Number and definiteness
Singular forms are unmarked. Formal plural is formed with -im: lenaim = children; nelorim = temples. A softer poetic plural in -i may also be used.
Articles are usually omitted. Definiteness is carried by context, position, and ritual weight.
Verbal framework
Dictionary forms are bare roots. A light tense system is sufficient for now: past in -en, future or destined in -ir, participial or adjectival verbal forms in -ath.
Examples: daloren = consumed; thalorir = shall ascend; vatharath = corrupted or corrupting.
Negation
Use ne for ordinary negation: Nar ne aeth = Fire is not Light.
Use nul- for false, void, or counterfeit concepts: nul-aeth = false light; nul-selyel = false beauty.
6. Example Formulae
| Ayleidoon | Gloss |
| Aeth vara. | Light is law. |
| Aeth ir vara; suriel ir tirel. | Light is law; purity is soul-light. |
| Nar ne aeth; nar ir merid-vath. | Fire is not Light; fire is corrupted radiance. |
| Lena surian, tirel aethan. | The child is pure, the soul-light sacredly luminous. |
| Vathsaran lenaim daloren va nar. | The rite of desecration consumed children by fire. |
7. Usage Rules for Future Work
- Prefer nouns, compounds, and participles over conversational, verb-heavy phrasing in sacred or royal registers.
- Keep Light lexically primary and fire lexically secondary. Fire should be framed as corrupted or perverted light, not as a neutral sacred element.
- Use compounds for fixed titles, theological concepts, monumental formulae, and sacral phrases. Use analytic particles for commentary and longer prose.
- Every newly coined term should be checked against this system and then added back into the lexicon so future translations remain stable.
Working note. This framework is intentionally expandable. It is meant to support later inscriptional, poetic, ceremonial, and theological translations without drifting into inconsistent vocabulary or syntax.
8. Proper Names and Established Terms
This section records the fixed names, titles, and artifact terms now established for Wulf’s circle. These entries should be treated as the default standard for future narrative, dialogue, and inscriptional use.

Formal spoken line intended for a tense, urgent warning in which clarity matters more than speed.
Ne thanar saim, Wulf! Venath na senthel dor Elenwen telor el vaelarir Whiterun va parathim mirim.
Natural rendering: Do not kill them, Wulf! The loss of a patrol would give Elenwen cause to swarm Whiterun with more parasites.
Usage note: The first sentence is marked with an exclamation for spoken urgency. The particle na does not replace exclamatory force; it simply clarifies the genitive phrase venath na senthel, “loss of a patrol.”
11. Transport and Movement
| Headword | Meaning / Use | Status |
| Silathalor | From sila “air, breath, upper movement” + thalor “to rise, ascend.” Air-Ascent; Ascent Through Air. Wulf’s self-developed flight spell. | R |

| Tirnethaeth | The state of soul-entwinement. Used even where the souls may never meet, or where love is obstructed, impossible, or only partly realized in a given life or kalpa. | R |
14. Love, Bond, and Relation
These terms distinguish love as a sacred force, ordinary or chosen bonds of affection, and the rarer kalpa-spanning entwinement already captured by Tirnetha and Tirnethaeth.
| Headword | Meaning / Use | Status |
| mara | love, compassion, devoted affection; also the root used when speaking of love as an active force or practice | R |
| maran | beloved, dear, loving; adjective for one held in love or showing love | R |
| Marael | love as sacred force; the power of love; binding grace. Elevated abstraction used for love as a metaphysical and life-shaping power, not mere fondness or desire | R |
| Maranetha | love-bond; chosen or reciprocal bond of affection. Distinct from Tirnetha, which describes kalpa-spanning entwined souls rather than ordinary or even profound mortal attachment | R |
| Tirnetha Marael | Normal elevated expression for the unique love-power of entwined souls; the sacred love of Tirnetha. | R |

15. Sacred Life and Tree Terminology
These entries keep the attested Light of Life term distinct from the reconstructed class-term for an Ayleid Blessed Life-Tree.

| Lattanya | Attested Ayleidoon: the Light of Life; retained for the specific sacred principle/relic rather than used as the generic name of every sacred tree. | C |

| Lattanyathil | From Lattanya “Light of Life” + thil “tree.” Blessed Life-Tree; Tree of the Light of Life. A class-term for a sacred life-giving tree rather than an individual proper name. | C+R |
16. Additional Controlled Example
Stel! Sa ne vara na Al-Esh. Rial el renim aran.
Natural rendering: Halt! This is not the way of Al-Esh. Return to your people.
Imagination makes the impossible, possible! Thank You Mark
Outstanding Mark! It is extremely important for the Reader, to understand the syntax, relevance, and organization of the many languages in Skyrim. Ancient Ayleid, seems to be the precursor.
Cheers!
